GUIDELINES – Please review these Preschool Open Gym guidelines to make your visit the best it can be!

*** Our preschool Open Gyms are designed for children ages 12 months through 4.5 years old. As this is not  instructional time, parents MUST BE on the gym floor at all times and are expected to supervise their children.  Please make other arrangements for older children as they are not to be on the floor during this time.

  • All participants must follow all appropriate safety rules as shown on safety posters throughout the gym. This includes ALWAYS landing feet first and NO FLIPPING on the trampolines or into the pit unless the child has been properly instructed in a North Coast Gymnastics class.
  • No street shoes on the gym floor at any time. Appropriate gym attire consists of leotards, shorts, or other similar athletic attire. No jewelry, belts, gum, jeans/denim or zippers. Long hair should be tied back for safety.
  • For the safety of our gymnasts, flash photography is not allowed during any North Coast Gymnastics Academy activity.
  • Infant Policy: Please be reminded that there is a risk associated with any gymnastics activity. All participants who enter the gymnastics facility, including infants and adults, need to be aware of the risks associated with gymnastics equipment, uneven surfaces, and other participants.  An Open Gym is not an ideal setting for infants.  Before entering the facility with your infant, we ask that you be completely aware of all inherent risks associated with this activity.  A copy of our rules is available at the front desk at all times.  Children not yet walking are permitted into the facility at no charge if accompanied by a paying participant.
  • Accompanying adults are defined as adults 18 years of age or older, whether parents, relatives, temporary or permanent guardians, childcare providers, et al. Accompanying adults are allowed in the gym area during North Coast Gymnastics Academy activities as supervisors only. Accompanying adults are allowed in the floor area only during specific times allowed by North Coast Gymnastics Academy, but may not be on any equipment, with the exception of the floor and pit or to assist their children during preschool open gym.
  • Food & Beverage Policy: No coffee, hot drinks or food on gym floor, runways, or pit areas.
  • Non-members & members all must have a participation form completed by a parent or legal guardian on file. These forms are good for one calendar year and will then need to be renewed at the gym office.  NO ONE will be allowed to participate without this signed consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian!  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Any violations of these rules is reason for an instructor to sit a student out for a period of time or to deny the privilege of open gym if the problem persists.

Please be aware that the pit is hard to maneuver.  Keep that in mind before entering.

  1. Always remove socks before entering the pit. Objects in pockets may fall out.  We are not responsible for lost personal items.
  2. Always check the pit before entering. Do not enter the pit if other people are in your way.
  3. Enter the pit one at a time.
  4. Always land in the pit. If you miss the pit, it can’t keep you from getting injured.
  5. Watch carefully when you jump to avoid hitting others already in the pit.
  6. Always move out of the way immediately when other people are ready to enter the pit.
  7. Use safe landing positions, feet, bottom, or back. Never head first, chest, or stomach or in an arched position.
  8. Flips are not allowed without a coach’s knowledge, consent, and presence.
  9. Horseplay is not permitted. Do not throw pit cubes at others.
  10. Do not bury yourself or your friends under the pit cubes.
  11. Do not make holes in the pit area.
  12. Do not tear the pit cubes.  This can cause pit dust.
  13. Keep the pit cubes in the pit at all times.  Please replace any foam you see outside the pit.
  14. Make sure the pit is fluffed before attempting any skill into the pit.
  15. Re-fluff the pit regularly and whenever holes occur or the foam is packed down.
  16. Do not attempt to perform any skill into the pit that you do not have the necessary skills to execute properly.

Always think SAFETY!
